Welcome to our San Marino Grand Prix live blog!
There’s been plenty of action so far at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, with echoes of the 2025 Misano rivalry between Marc Márquez and home hero Marco Bezzecchi. In Saturday’s sprint, a win for Márquez and podium spots for Bezzecchi and Martín has left the top three championship contenders with just 22 points between them.
Bezzecchi starts on pole, with both Márquez brothers lining up alongside him on the front row. MotoGP Legend, Valentino Rossi, has been present across the weekend to support both his team and his protégés, but there’s an added challenge for Franco Morbidelli as he will have to serve a Long Lap Penalty for slow riding during yesterday’s Practice session. Meanwhile, Raúl Fernández will be hoping to make up places for Trackhouse, who are running with just one rider as Ai Ogura is still out injured.
Off track, there have been three new inductees to the MotoGP Hall of Fame, as Loris Caparossi, Umberto Masetti and Libero Liberati were all given the title of MotoGP Legend. There’s also been plenty of rider market news over the weekend so far. Jack Miller and Brad Binder have both confirmed they will be leaving MotoGP to join the WorldSBK paddock, with Morbidelli rumoured to be heading the same way. Álex Rins announced that he will be retiring from two-wheel racing, with an “exciting project” lined up. Meanwhile, possibly the worst-kept secret in motorcycle racing was confirmed, as VR46 will be welcoming WorldSBK championship leader Nicolò Bulega to the team in 2027.
With so much excitement already happening, we can’t wait to see what action unfolds in the 2026 San Marino Grand Prix.

Aldeguer passes Martín on Lap 20
If the race finishes in this order, then Marc Márquez will be tied with Martín on points, but would lead the championship on the race win countback.
The Shark is on the hunt!
Pedro Acosta comes from a long way back to get past Martín – the other Gresini of Fermín Aldeguer is closing in on the sole remaining Aprilia rider. If Martín relinquishes any more positions, he is at risk of losing the championship lead.
