F1 Academy Race 1 | Las Vegas GP | Pin Victorious in Vegas

Doriane Pin claimed another victory in Race 1 at the 2025 Las Vegas Grand Prix. The Prema Racing driver was able to keep her cool in the penultimate race of the 2025 F1 Academy Season

In a race with three safety cars and five DNF’s, it was Pin who was able to extend her points lead. Polesitter Nina Gademan held on for second, while Alisha Palmowski was able to secure another podium in third.

This Weekend So Far…

Championship leader Doriane Pin led the only practice session around Las Vegas. Pin posted a 2:07.967 to go two tenths clear of Maya Weug after a late Red Flag denied them a chance to improve inside the final 10 minutes of running.

Chloe Chambers added another pole position to her resume in the F1 Academy Qualifying. Chambers ended the session with a strong 0.380s gap back to Alisha Palmowski, with Alba Larsen narrowly behind in third place. Championship contenders Pin and Weug will line up next to each other for both races, qualifying fourth and fifth respectively.

Nina Gademan will start Race 1 from pole, after securing her third Reverse Grid Pole Position. The Alpine backed driver will start ahead of Emma Felbermayr and Tina Hausmann.

Formation Lap Drama

It was Gademan who started from pole in Race 1 of the 2025 Las Vegas Grand Prix. However, it was a dramatic start to the formation lap with Emma Felbermayr stalled from second.

The Kick Sauber backed driver was able to rejoin the race in last however it was carnage at the front of the field. Championship contender Weug crashed into the back of former teammate Tina Hausmann. With the incident being reported to the stewards for a post race decision, both drivers were out of the race before it even begun.

Safety Car Start

With Hausmann and Weug both unable to start the race the safety car was brought out. Pin started the race from second behind her teammate Gademan. With the flag still yellow, Alba Larsen was now third, ahead of Red Bull supported drivers Palmowski and Chambers.

The Safety Car ended after the third lap, with Gademan leading their field through the main straight. Larsen made the most of the restart, passing Pin through Turn 2. The Tommy Hilfiger driver then claimed the lead of the race from Gademan before the end of Lap 4.

However, Larsen spun out at the beginning of Lap 5 before rejoining the field in 14th. With the track still damp from previous rain, Gademan was able to retake the lead. Pin was sitting in second ahead of Chambers in third.

Second Safety Car

Ella Lloyd was the next driver out of the race, crashing into the barrier after trying to pass Palmowski. Chloe Chong was handed a penalty after colliding with Courtney Crone, while Joanne Ciconte spun Rafaela Ferreira.

The field was now back behind the safety car, as the race ticked onto its eight lap out of twelve. With the track now clear, the safety car was pulled in at the end of the eight lap, giving the drivers four more laps of racing.

Green Flag

The flags were green and it was Gademan, who once again led the field in the restart. Gademan was away quickly but it was Aurelia Nobels who ran wide into Turn 1 before rejoining the field. With only three laps to go, Palmowksi dived pass Chambers for the final spot on the podium. While Pin passed Gademan for the lead of Race 1 in Las Vegas.

Campos teammates Chambers and Palmowksi were at it once again, fighting for the final podium position. On Lap 9, Chambers reposed her teammate before she was forced into the wall from behind. Block was caught up behind Chambers, dropping down to seventh, while Nobels was able to jump up to fourth.

Checkered Flag Under Safety Car

Pin led the race as the field trailed the safety car for the final laps of Race 1 for F1 Academy at the 2025 Las Vegas Grand Prix. With the rain starting to fall, the checkered flag was out with Pin claiming her fourth victory of the season.

Gademan, who is supported by Alpine, held on from pole position will claim another podium in her rookie season. While Red Bull backed Palmowksi claimed another podium in third position.

Pin and Gademan’s podiums have given Prema Racing enough points to claim the Team’s Championship with one race to spare. The Italian based team have now claimed all three teams championships in F1 Academy since its inception in 2023.

Nobels was able to score some valuable points finishing in fourth. Tag Heuer’s Rachel Roberts, who is replacing an injured Aiva Anagnostiadis, claimed her maiden points in the series in fifth. Lia Block was able to recover into sixth position ahead of Las Vegas Wildcard Payton Westcott. Crone, who is supported by HASS, was able to pick up the final point in her home race.

With many post-race investigations for the stewards, the result may change. However, Pin was able to keep her racing clean and extend her championship lead by a further 11 points. The Mercedes supported driver is now 20 points clear of Weug ahead of the final race of the 2025 F1 Academy series tomorrow.

Post Race Updates

Following Race 1 at the 2025 Las Vegas Grand Prix, Alisha Palmowksi was disqualified from second place after post race checks on her car. Aurelia Nobels was promoted to P3 and secured her first podium in F1 Academy.

With the points places revised, Ferreira now secured one point finishing eighth. While, Nicole Havrda received a 30 second time penalty for remaining in the pitman after the formation lap due to mechanical issues. The American Express driver is now 12th, bumping Felbermayr and Ciconte up to 10th and 11th respectively.

F1 Academy will be back at 4:20pm local time (GMT-8) for Race 2 at the 2025 Las Vegas Grand Prix
