The F1 Academy season concludes under the dazzling lights of Nevada this weekend as the series supports the 2025 F1 Las Vegas GP.

In what has been the most competitive season in the championship’s short history, the title fight has gone down to the wire, with Doriane Pin clinging to a slim nine-point lead over Maya Weug.

With a maximum of 39 points available across two final races, this high-stakes showdown is set to deliver as the 2025 F1 Academy Champion is crowned.

The Title Contenders

Pin enters the finale with 151 points for PREMA Racing, maintaining the lead since the 2025 Canadian GP.

The Mercedes supported driver has been a model of consistency, scoring points in every race and taking three victories. Her strength lies in her race craft and ability to manage pressure.

However, Pin faces a significant challenge from MP Motorsport’s Maya Weug. Sitting on 142 points, having closed the gap dramatically after an impressive win in Singapore, the Ferrari supported driver has demonstrated exceptional pace, particularly in Qualifying.

The Las Vegas Strip Circuit

The 6.201-kilometer Las Vegas Strip Circuit is one of the longest and fastest circuits on the calendar, offering a new challenge as the series debuts at this track.

The circuit features extremely long straights, crucial for bold overtakes, punctuated by low-speed corners. Crucially, the cars will be racing at night in cold temperatures, which presents a challenge for tyre warm-up and management on the low-grip street circuit.

Drivers who can quickly adapt their setups and maintain tyre temperature in the colder conditions will gain a vital advantage.

Drivers to Watch Beyond the Title

While Pin and Weug battle for the top spot, the fight for third place and the title of the highest performing rookie is all to race for.

Ella Lloyd currently stands in third with 101 points for Rodin Motorsport. However, American driver Chloe Chambers is only two points behind for Campos Racing.

The fight for P3 came to a head most recently in Singapore. Chambers had a strong start to the weekend, taking P3 in both Qualifying and Race 1. However, a slow pit stop and falling behind the Safety Car in Race 2 cost her significant track position. She finished P11, scoring no points.

Meanwhile, Lloyd stayed out and successfully managed the changing conditions, finishing P3 in Race 2, which allowed her to overtake Chambers for third in the championship standings before the final round.

As well as this, the Welsh driver is in contention for this year’s highest performing rookie alongside Alisha Palmowski. Both have taken impressive victories this season and a strong showing from either of these drivers could dramatically impact the results at the front if they manage to take points away from the title rivals.

The scene is set for a historic final weekend as the 2025 Las Vegas GP prepares to crown the next F1 Academy champion.
