Doriane Pin and Maya Weug have brought the pace so far in the 2025 F1 Academy season, and now, both are in contention for the title. With only nine points separating the two, every lap will matter at the season finale in Las Vegas.
While both drivers may be even on victories, Weug has been exceptional in qualifying, claiming three pole positions. However, Pin has shows consistency throughout the season, a minimum of ten points every weekend.
Consistency is Key for Pin
Pin, who is backed by Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula 1 Team, has had an exceptional season so far, including three race wins and a total of seven podiums. Pin returned to F1 Academy for her second season with both Prema and Mercedes after finishing the 2024 season in second.
After closing the championship gap to one point in Miami, Pin was in peak form heading into the second half of the F1 Academy season. Round four in Montreal was a standout weekend for the French driver, claiming 46 points over three races.
Pin also claimed maximum points in Race 2 at Shanghai, collecting both the race win and the fastest lap point, while also claiming podiums in Jeddah, Zandvoort and Singapore.
Weug on the Charge
After finishing third in the 2024 F1 Academy standings, Maya Weug is back and now competing with MP Motorsports. The Ferrari backed driver has had a solid season, claiming three race wins and eight podiums across the six race weekends.
With all of her race wins coming from the higher scoring Race 2, Weug has been able to bank 142 points so far. The Dutch driver, who scored in both home races, has claimed three poles this season, including there previous round at Singapore, which placed her back in championship contention.
While her pace has been present all season, mechanical complication heavily impacted Weug in Montreal. Only managing to score eight points in Race 3, Weug failed to score in Race 2 and suffered a DNF in Race 1.
