Sergio Pérez and Red Bull Part Ways

Sergio Pérez and Red Bull have officially parted ways for the 2025 season and beyond. This marks the end of his career in Formula 1 for now.

For months there have been several rumours floating around the Formula 1 paddock about the Red Bull line-up. Regardless of Checo’s contract extension, the Mexican’s seat has seemingly always been at ‘risk’. Red Bull have stood by the veteran driver throughout the entire 2024 season. With Christian Horner stating “We’re very much focused on really supporting him (Checo) to the chequered flag in Abu Dhabi.”

Following the final Grand Prix of the season, Red Bull and Checo made the difficult decision to part ways for the future. This brings to an end a 4-year-long journey for the pair. With 90 race starts, Pérez had one of the most successful stints of his F1 career thus far. Picking up 5 race wins, 29 podiums, and 2 World Constructors Championships. Additionally, Checo helped secure the team’s first one-two finish in the drivers’ standings.

Reactions from Sergio Pérez and Red Bull

Sergio Pérez spoke about his departure from the team with much gratitude for everyone who has played a role in his career.

“I’m incredibly grateful for the past four years.

Driving for Red Bull has been an unforgettable experience and I’ll always cherish the successes we achieved together. We broke records, reached remarkable milestones, and I’ve had the privilege of meeting so many incredible people along the way.

A special thank you to the fans around the world, and especially to the Mexican fans for your unwavering support every day. We’ll meet again soon. And remember…Never give up.”

Team Principal of Oracle Red Bull Racing, Christian Horner, has been an advocate for Pérez throughout his entire journey at the team. He expressed his gratitude toward the Mexican driver as he departs the team.

“I would like to thank Checo for all he has done for Oracle Red Bull Racing over the past four seasons. From the moment he joined in 2021 he proved himself to be an extraordinary Team player, helping us to two Constructors’ titles and to our first 1-2 finish in the Drivers’ championship”

Red Bull are yet to finalise their 2025 line-up, with the team needing to fill Sergio Pérez’s seat as well as the last VCARB seat.
