SEBASTIAN MONTOYA JOINS THE RED BULL JUNIOR PROGRAM

Son of F1 and Motorsport Icon Juan Pablo Montoya, joins the ranks as a Red Bull young driver

Formula 1 has a history of sons following in their fathers footsteps. You only have to look as far as the most recent world champion to see an ex Formula 1 driving father in paddock. It looks like the next father/son duo is a step closer to realising their dream. 7 time race winner Juan Pablo Montoya’s son Sebastian Montoya has signed for the Red Bull Junior team.

Coming off the back of a decent showing in Formula Regional Asian Championship. Sebastian scored his maiden open wheel victory. Culminating in 7th in the championship and standing on the top step twice. He says…

“Excited to announce I am now part of Red Bull’s Official Junior Team,”

“This past year, I became part of the brand’s athletes and now we will work together for the ultimate goal: F1.”

Sebastian also competed in the 2022 Formula Regional European Championship with Prema Racing, where he finished 13th, while also making his FIA F3 debut with Campos Racing finishing in eighth twice for the team.

Juan Pablo Montoya famously raced for Williams and McLaren between 2001 and 2006. He won 7 grands prix’s during his time in the sport.

Should Sebastian make it into FORMULA 1, the father/son duo will join a prestigious list of F1 dynasties.
