Carlos Sainz believes that Ferrari are ‘getting stronger and stronger’ following the team’s P1 and P3 finish at the 2024 Monaco Grand Prix.

Carlos Sainz finished P3 at the Monaco Grand Prix behind his Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc and McLaren’s Oscar Piastri. Sainz believes that his team are improving each week following upgrades and podium finishes.

On the opening lap, Sainz experienced a surge of disappointment as he veered straight on at the Casino. Contact ensued at the back of the grid involving Red Bull’s Sergio Perez and both Haas drivers, necessitating the race’s red flag.

This fortunate turn of events enabled Sainz to regain momentum and limp back to the pits in P16 following a P3 start. Not so fortunate for Perez, Magnussen or Hulkenberg, mind you.

Reflecting on the rollercoaster of emotions, Sainz said, “It was a tight one and a very bad feeling in lap one which very quickly turned into a really good feeling after getting reinstated in P3.”

While he finished where he started, the Spaniard is proud of the Ferrari team this weekend: “From thereon really, the race pace was good as we expect, it’s just impossible to get past on the streets of Monaco.”

The talk of the weekend is understandably hometown hero Charles Leclerc who beat the Monaco curse to take his first home race win.

Sainz acknowledged the significance of sharing the podium with his teammate, “To be able to share this podium with him in P3 is great for the whole team, and it feels like we’re getting stronger and stronger.”

This harmony at Ferrari will end this season. As we all know, Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton is to replace Sainz. Currently, the driver has no future seat announced. As rumours swirl regarding his future, with Audi, Mercedes, and Williams in the mix, will Sainz’s podiums benefit him?
