Jak Crawford: A Season In Review

Hannah Adams Avatar

Jak Crawford is continuing his career with DAMS Lucas Oil for the 2025 Formula 2 season, after debuting with the team last year.

With 2024 teammate Juan Manuel Correa early departure from the series, Crawford will now work alongside Kush Maini for the 2025 season.

Partnering with the team for another year, we breakdown Crawford’s 2024 season highlights, and look to his future with DAMS.

Crawford’s First 2024 Win

Barcelona proved to be a successful weekend for the American driver.

Qualifying second, Crawford would finish in 4th position in Saturday’s Sprint Race, therefore resulting in some points for the team.

However, Sunday’s Feature Race would end in an even better result.

After pitting on lap eight, Crawford undercut Paul Aron to take the net race lead.

Therefore, when the drivers on the alternative strategy pitted, Crawford moved into the lead and crossed the line in first position.

This resulted in Crawford’s first win on the 2024 season, and his second win of his Formula 2 career.

Through The Ranks

Several times in 2024, Crawford was able to prove that a challenging qualifying result would not stop him from climbing through the ranks.

In Austria, the American qualified in 14th position yet would go on to finish in 6th and 10th in the Sprint and Feature race respectively.

After qualifying in a tough 22nd position in Hungary, Crawford would charge to 9th position in Saturday’s Sprint race, just missing out on points.

Qualifying in 9th position in Baku, Crawford would take another podium in his campaign after finishing in 2nd

Therefore, the American was able to prove time and time again that he could perform under pressure to climb the order, even after a disappointing qualifying result.

Top Five Championship Finish

Going into the 2024 season, Crawford’s main aim was to finish in the top five in the overall Championship standings.

Remarkably, Crawford would go on to achieve this, ending the season in fifth position with 125 points. He took one win, six podiums and one fastest lap.

Looking Forward

Going into his second season with DAMS Lucas Oil, Crawford will be hoping to build on the strong foundations that he has already built with the team.

After his 2024 top five finish, the American driver will be hoping to improve on this result, with the Championship title certainly in reach.

With Gabriel Bortoleto and Isack Hadjar Formula 1 bound, Paul Aron focused on his Alpine Development Driver duties and Zane Maloney pursuing Formula E, Jak Crawford is arguably the strongest driver still competing in the Championship this season.

Formula 2 testing will begin on February 24-26.
