Following today’s sprint at the Spanish GP, the Formula 3 2024 Championship battle is again heating up with nine different ‘pole-sitters’ in the first five rounds.

Today’s Spanish sprint podium finishers are Campos Racing’s Mari Boya in P1 and Oliver Goethe in P3. Additionally, MP Motorsport’s Alexander Dunne secured the 2nd spot between these two. All these podium finishers opened up on their views about the current competitiveness of the 2024 F3 Championship today.

In the post-sprint presser, the podium finisher’s-Boya, Dunne, and Goethe, attended a press conference to express their views on the fierce Formula 3 2024 Championship battle.

The Sprint winner Boya says clean weekends are vital this season;

“I think the key to this championship is always to win. In the points, clearly, it’s what I am missing because I am making, well, some mistakes also, sometimes outside of my control, also outside of the control of the team.”

“So, for the second part of the season, the thing I am looking the most is to have clean weekends because the speed is clearly always there. But, it’s always happening, something yesterday, brake failure in Imola, broken gearbox in qualifying.”

Afterwards, Dunne added that the Championship can turn on it’s head at any moment;

“I think with the format of F3, if somebody has a bad run and somebody else manages to be really consistent and parallel with the front, I think it can turn around very quickly.

“So, I think now it’s kind of like the second half of the season, so it’s important to just stay and score good points and make sure you don’t make any mistakes.

“I think once you’re consistently finishing at the front, you can turn it around.”

Last to comment was Campos’ Goethe, who revealed that his “goal is just to be consistent, as consistent as possible” to win the 2024 F3 Championship. Explaining this, he said:

“Yeah, for me, like you said, there’s been nine different winners. So, every time there’s a new winner, the leader of the championship loses points to them.”

“So, yeah, for me, it’s such a tight championship. One good race or one good round and one bad run for another driver can completely turn the table.”

“So, yeah, like the other two said, the goal is just to be consistent, as consistent as possible, because at the end of the day, that’s what’s going to make you win the title.”

Reflecting on the win today, Boya hopes it will give himself and the team a boost for the rest of the season;

“It’s been a bit tough, but always the pace is there. And then in the races, I go to the front. So, let’s see if this win gives me an extra boost and I can show all the potential we have.”

As for now, these three racers will take out their Formula 3 cars on the Circuit De Barcelona-Catalunya for the feature race. The race is set to kick off at 10:05 AM (local time) tomorrow morning.
