Alex Dunne and Arvid Lindblad were plagued with penalties following Sunday’s Spa-Francorchamps F2 Feature Race.
Dunne Loses Championship Lead
Rodin Motorsport’s Alex Dunne was the first driver to be penalised following Sunday’s Spa-Francorchamps Feature Race.
The Irish driver initially claimed victory, regaining the Championship lead over Richard Verschoor and Jak Crawford.
Car 17 was referred to the Stewards for an alleged breach of Article 1.6.1 FIA Formula 2 Regulations, after failing to engage the start-up procedure.
Speaking to the driver and a team representative in detail, Dunne was handed a 10-second time penalty. This was in accordance with the FIA F2 penalty guidelines.
Therefore, the McLaren Development Driver dropped down to tenth in the race order.
Disappointingly, Dunne once again lost his 15-point Championship lead, falling below Leo Fornaroli, Verschoor and Crawford into fourth.
Disqualification For Lindblad
Campos Racing’s Arvid Lindblad was the second driver to be penalised following Sunday’s Spa-Francorchamps Feature Race.
Storming to second, the British driver claimed his first podium of the season since Barcelona after a difficult run of results.
Car 4 was referred to the Stewards for an alleged breach of Article 10.4.3 of the FIA Formula 2 Regulations in relation to the tyre pressures being below the limit defined in the Pirelli Technical Review on four tyres.
The team accepted the FIA Technical Delegate’s measurement, resulting in disqualification for Lindblad from the final classification.
The Result
With Lindblad’s disqualification, this meant that every driver behind the Red Bull Junior moved up one position in the final classification.
A slight improvement for Dunne, the Irish driver therefore moved into ninth after his 10-second time penalty. He scored two points in total.
Roman Stanek inherited the lead for Invicta Racing, with Ritomo Miyata in second for ART Grand Prix. Luke Browning completed the podium for Hitech TGR.
