Luke Browning powers home to claim his first Formula 2 win in the Feature Race at the 2025 Italian Grand Prix.
The Hitech driver held his nerve through the Temple of Speed, while Joshua Durksen and Pepe Marti round out the podium. With six retirements and three safety cars, the F2 Feature Race proved crucial for the championship battle.
So Far This Weekend…
Luke Browning powered to his maiden pole position in Formula 2 in Qualifying at the 2025 Italian Grand Prix. The session came to an early end after Richard Verschoor brought out the Red Flag. The Hitech driver qualified ahead of Kush Maini, while Roman Stanek Qualified third.
Leonardo Fornaroli took victory in the F2 Sprint Race at the 2025 Italian Grand Prix. The home race hero charged home in Monza ahead of Arvid Lindblad and Joshua Durksen after a late penalty cost Beganovic third place in the F2 Sprint Race for the 2025 Italian GP.
Lights Out!
It was lights out on the F2 Feature Race at the 2025 Italian Grand Prix with Luke Browning leading the pack around Monza. Off the line, Maini was swallowed by the field, while Oliver Goethe made a move into second.
After a long summer break, the racing was in full force with both Campos drivers and Victor Martins going three wide into the Ascari Chicane. Championship leader Fornaroli was forced to take the run off road, falling to 10th behind Jak Crawford.
Oliver Goethe was quick off the start and by Lap 4 had overtaken Browning for the lead. As the pit lane opened on Lap 6, Goethe was straight in and onto the soft tyres.
A First Safety Car
A lock up by Arvid Lindblad would bring out a string of safety cars with the Red Bull Junior rear ending Alex Dunne. The McLaren Junior’s race was over by Lap 8 as he was forced into the barriers at the entry of the Ascari Chicane. With the first of three Safety Cars were deployed the drivers dove into the pit lane.
An untimely pitstop from Goethe dropped him back to 8th while Luke browning was able to retake the lead.
While he received a 10 second penalty, Lindblad’s race was not over yet. The young Brit was able to stay in the hunt as the safety car was called back in.
Cian Shields’ race came to an end after he drove off into the foam barriers heading into the Parabolica. The AIX Racing driver misjudged the safety car restart and took avoiding action into the grass.
Green Flag Then Safety Car
The green flag was waved and the cars hurled down the main straight. Stanek was Lindblad’s next casualty into the first chicane. The Campos driver, who had been driving around with a broken front wing, hurled into the side of the Invicta sending Stanek into the wall.
Victor Martins was the fourth retirement of the race. The Williams Academy driver was spun around in Turn 1, after avoiding the Lindblad and Stanek incident.
Lindblad was forced to retire in the pit as his Campos mechanics were unable to repair the damage to his side pods.
The track went green once more, with 17 cars on track as the race ticked over its 14th Lap. Joshua Durksen was able to make the most of the restart, passing Browning for the lead.
However, Sami Meguetounif was caught out into Turn 1. The Trident driver brought out the final safety car as he crashed into the foam barrier on the run off road of the first chicane.
A Race To The End
By Lap 16, the green flag was waved once more. Durksen was able to hold off Browning, while Crawford was able to pass Fornaroli.
Three laps later, Hitech’s Browning powered into the lead. Behind him, Rafael Villagómez held his own against Pepe Marti who was challenging him for third. Villagómez, who charged through the field from 16th, looked to make his second podium of the year.
Dino Beganovich followed in his Hitech teamates footsteps, overtaking Goethe and Crawford within a few laps. The Ferrari Academy Driver, who was hoping to impress on home soil, chased Gabriele Mini for sixth.
Marti claimed the final podium place on Lap 28. The Red Bull Junior passing Villagómez after they briefly touched going into the first chicane. With only two laps remaining, the Spaniard charged after Durksen.
Beganovich pressured Fornaroli for fifth however, the Championship leader held his own as the checkered flag flew.
Luke Browning claimed his maiden Formula 2 victory in the Feature Race at the 2025 Italian Grand Prix. The Brit was joined on the podium by Durksen and Marti.
While Fornaroli maintains his lead heading into Round 12, Luke Browning was able to jump past Jak Crawford and Richard Verschoor into Second. In the Teams Championship, Invicta Racing is 32 points clear of Hitech TGR with only 3 round of the 2025 Formula 2 Championship remaining.
