Alpine Out of Sprint Points Contention

Even before the race began, Alpine were out of the Sprint, with Franco Colapinto starting from the pit lane due to changes in the car, and Pierre Gasly not starting due to a potential water leak. Alpine aimed to use the sprint to gain as much knowledge about the car as possible heading into qualifying for the race this afternoon.

Oscar Piastri led the grid out for the sprint after claiming his first sprint pole of the 2025 season. However, it was not long before the McLarens of Piastri and Lando Norris were under threat as Max Verstappen stormed past Piastri early on lap 1 and Charles Leclerc got past Norris. However, it was not long before Norris retook P3 from Leclerc.

Haas Holding Position in Top 8

For the first time this season, a Haas car started in the top 5 of a Sprint or Race. And the potential for points held steady as both Esteban Ocon and Ollie Bearman finished in the top 8.

Keeping it Cool

Despite closing in on Verstappen under DRS, Piastri was unable to regain the lead of the Sprint. Verstappen appeared to have complete control of the race, making it impossible for Piastri to get past him.

For the first time in Red Bull’s history, Verstappen claimed a sprint race victory for a Red Bull team devoid of Team Principal Christian Horner.
