For years, Formula one has teased with the idea of a London based street circuit, passing monuments like Buckingham palace and the Shard.

With the redevelopment proposal for the London Docklands, rumours have been sparked for a potential F1 venue.

The LDN Collective, a group of built environmental experts, have suggested the added track. Featuring a multistorey pitlane at the ExCel arena. A 3.64-mile route with 22 corners and an estimated lap time of 1 minute 42 seconds. Similar to the current London track layout for Formula E

The proposal comes amid plans to create a ‘globally recognised waterfront destination for sports, leisure and entertainment’

250 Million Pound Redevelopment Plan

The reported £250million redevelopment of the east London docklands is trying to be as sustainable as possible. The plan is to use floating modules to form cycling and running tracks. On the run up to the event, they can then be disassembled to reveal the Formula 1 grade circuit.

The elevated pitlane would offer increased viewing for fans. This would create unique grandstand areas and the ability to host up to 92,000 people. This would come at the perfect time in the sports growth. F1 has recently hit its highest popularity yet and is constantly needing new and exciting ideas to keep up.

“We know that Formula 1 is interested in hosting a grand prix here and we have designed a track that meets all of their requirements and regulations.”

Max Farrell, CEO of the LDN Collective.

The newest track in the English capital city could be featured as early as 2026 in the F1 calendar. With talks going on between the Collective and F1 bosses, it is looking hopeful for the future.
