Following the Montreal Sprint, Noel León claimed the title as the first Mexican to win an F2 race.
Reflecting on victory
When asked about securing his first win in the series, León replied: “It feels great, to be honest. I’ve been waiting for this victory a long time. It feels nice.”
“The last three laps was very cathartic for me, you know, trying not to do any mistakes and keep it safe, because we had a good gap. Pretty happy that now I already can check that off the list of the year, first win, […] the first one is always the most difficult one.”
Takeaways from Montreal
With Montreal being a last minute addition to the calendar, with no previous real-track running in the series, León reflected on his key takeaways from the Sprint Race.
“I think, we didn’t expect to have so much contact. I think we need to start looking a lot in our mirrors on the breaking points because when someone is trying to overtake, the car behind you, they can miss the breaking point quite easily because it’s very dirty outside of the line.”
Home away from home
The Mexican reflected on his heritage, naming Canada as “home away from home”, with the Latin American community behind him.
“It’s always great to go to a racetrack and see a lot of Mexican flags and a lot of Mexican people around here. Also, Latin American people in general, to be honest, we can really feel the support so I’m very happy that today, I’ve made them proud,” said León
“It will be a dream to race in Formula 2 in Mexico City. I was hoping that, with the situation that we had, I was thinking that maybe we could go to Mexico, but at the end of the day we went to Miami and Montreal – still great tracks that I really enjoyed it.”
Formula 2 resumes in Monaco, from 4 June, 2026 – 7 June, 2026.
