Formula 3 driver and Alpine F1 team academy driver, Sophia Floersch will drive a Formula One car at the highly anticipated event Goodwood Festival Of Speed.

On July 14th Kimi Räikkönen’s 2012 E20 machine will be driven by the Alpine academy driver for a demo run. This will be Floersch’s first stint in a modern F1 car.

“It is an incredible opportunity to get my first experience behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car at Goodwood with BWT Alpine F1 Team”, Floersch stated.

“I cannot thank them enough for giving me the chance to drive up the hill in the E20.”

Floersch will drive her first modern day F1 car but this isn’t her first rodeo. At the 2022 Gulf Historic GP revival she did in fact drive the Brabham BT60B Judd F1 car. Giovanna Amati attempted to qualify in the first three rounds of the 1992 season in this car. And it was the last car to be entered by a female F1 driver.

Floersch’s Racing Career

Sophia Floersch is currently the only female competing in a mixed-gender feeder series for F1. She competes with Van Amersfoort Racing in Formula 3. More recently, she became the first woman to score points in the history of the modern F3 series.

Alpine F1 team has supported her through her Formula 3 Campaign as she drives their livery.

This is definitely an exciting endeavour for the young german driver. Goodwood Festival of Speed, is one of the most anticipated events in motorsport with a variety of cars and motorsport personality being shown.

Floersch said: “To have my first time in an F1 car at such a historic event as Goodwood will make it extra special. I hope it is the first of many!”

Kimi Räikkönen’s 2012 E20

The car is famous for Kimi Räikkönen’s 2012 stint and his famous win in Abu Dhabi of that season

It is a car famous for its stepped nose, typical 2012 style. The car was also driven by former F1 driver Romain Grosjean and saw 9 podium places throughout the 2012 season.

Floersch will drive this piece of F1 history on one of the biggest festivals of motorsport.
