Zandvoort Removal: The Zandvoort Grand Prix may not be able to keep their place in the F1 season due to high competition.
The Dutch Grand Prix, known for its stunning visuals and also being the home track of the two-time world driver champion Max Verstappen, could be at risk of being removed from the race calendar in the future.

We will resume the ongoing season at Zandvoort, Netherlands, which holds a contract scheduled to run until 2024. However, there are concerns regarding the possibility of extending their presence due to competition from other circuits. These circuits are willing to offer higher payments to secure a spot in the season.

“Formula 1 management knows what they want, and we know what we want. If you see countries like Saudi Arabia committing to their Grand Prix for 900million for 10 years, we can’t take on that kind of competition” says former F1 driver and current Dutch Grand Prix sporting director, Jan Lammers via Viaplay.
The Dutch Grand Prix carries significant cultural value within the racing world, evident through the presence of the iconic orange army and the use of flares during races. Letting go of this track would only undermine the essence of what the sport stands for.
The track held its inaugural Formula race in the 1950s but experienced a hiatus of 35 years. It was then announced for a comeback in the 2020 season; however, this was postponed due to the Covid pandemic. Nonetheless, the track remained prepared, meeting F1 standards, and officially returned in 2021.
“Fresh Air to the Eurpoean Community”
The F1 CEO, Stefano Domenicali had also praised the way Zandvoort has brought in ‘fresh air to the European community’ with the energy seen at the Grand Prix among the supporters.
“Despite the small track, and despite the old facilities, they brought a new way of having an incredible event: in terms of passionate people, in terms of sense-of community, in terms of entertainment, in terms of music and in terms of energy”
