Verstappen says Red Bull ‘made the right calls’ to claim 2024 Canadian GP win

Max Verstappen says the team ‘made the right calls’ this weekend to take the 2024 Canadian GP win. The Dutchman was back on the top step of the podium this weekend, following a brief stint further down the pack with a difficult car.

Speaking after the race, Verstappen told the media that getting back to the top was a huge effort from the entire Milton Keynes team;

“I do think that it was a very good team effort today. We made the right calls, we remained calm, you know, when it was sometimes a little bit hectic to make the right call. So yeah, very happy with that.”

While it was a team effort in at the 2024 Canadian GP this weekend, the three-time World Champion also pointed out that there was a bit of luck involved;

“I think at times in the race we didn’t look the quickest, but yeah, we were there at the right time, so very happy with that. It’s been a challenging weekend again for us, but to come out of it as a winner, of course, I take that.”

The last few races have been less than smooth sailing for Red Bull racing, with Verstappen’s teammate Sergio Perez retiring from the last two races and failing to finish on the podium since China back in April. Verstappen, while having more success than Perez, has made it clear he’s not 100% comfortable in the RB20. However, he says the team knows how to fix the issues;

“It’s always important to do well, you know. I mean, of course you can have difficult weekends, but it’s important to know what went wrong. We know where we are lacking and what our limitation is, but it just takes a bit of time to fix it.

And again, I think it showed again this race also that it was not very good, that part of the car. So we have a good amount of work that we can improve on.”
