In not so surprising news, Alpine have finally confirmed their new management structure including a very familiar name. Someone that has been rumoured to be moving to them for a while even after denying this himself.
Otmar Szafnauer is the new team principal which explains the new tie-in with the sponsor BWT. Former Peugeot Motorsport Boss Bruno Famin has been named as the new executive director of the Viry department in charge of the power units that remained badged as Renault last year even as the team became Alpine.
However, the newest announcement refers to the department as “Alpine Racing in Viry-Chatillon” and the power unit as “Alpine’s Formula 1 engine”.
This news comes as we await the release of the 2022 livery which is due on the 21st of this month. Could be a very exciting year for the Alpine team.
