As the 2025 FIA Formula 2 Championship begins at the Australian Grand Prix, these are the drivers to watch this weekend.
Jak Crawford
The highest returning driver for the 2025 Formula 2 season, Crawford will be hoping to prove he has what it takes to win the Championship.
Going into his third Formula 2 season, the American driver arguably already has an advantage when it comes to experience.
Linked to Aston Martin Aramco Formula 1 Team and Andretti Formula E team, Crawford has even been rumoured for the 2026 Cadillac line-up.
Therefore a strong weekend, and season overall, will undoubtedly strengthen his chances.
Leonardo Fornaroli
2024 FIA Formula 3 Champion Fornaroli should be on all viewers’ radars this weekend, with the Italian driver racing for Invicta.
With a consistent Championship-winning Formula 3 season last year, Fornaroli only failed to score points in two races.
Therefore, the driver will be hoping to keep up this consistency as the Championship progresses.
With Gabriel Bortoleto winning the 2024 FIA Formula 2 Championship in just his first season, also with Invicta Racing, Fornaroli will aim to follow suit.
Dino Beganovic
All eyes should also be on Beganovic, who will be racing with Hitech.
Two wins, one pole and four podiums saw the driver finish sixth in the 2024 FIA Formula 3 Championship.
After an impressive Formula 2 debut at the tail end of last season, the Swedish rookie does have a little experience, which will surely see him hit the ground running.
Beganovic revealed that last season’s stint “gives me more confidence for this year to be up there for the championship.”
Victor Martins
With the French driver going into his third season in Formula 2, Martins is another one to watch.
Remaining with ART Grand Prix, one win and five podiums saw the driver finish seventh in the standings overall last season.
In November 2024, Martins partook in the WEC rookie test with Alpine Endurance Team, completing the session fourth quickest and highest of the rookies.
The French driver also has experience in Formula E and made his Formula 1 test debut in May 2023, where he drove the Alpine A521.
Gabriele Mini
All eyes should also be on 2025 FIA Formula 3 runner-up Mini, who will be competing with Prema Racing alongside Sebastian Montoya.
The Italian made his Formula 2 debut in Baku with the team, where a successful weekend saw him finish third in Saturday’s Feature Race.
Racing with Prema in a multitude of Championships, including Italian Formula 4 and Formula 3, the rookie will be hoping that this established relationship will help him succeed.
The 2025 FIA Formula 2 Championship begins at the Australian Grand Prix on 14-16 March, 2025.
