Lawrence Stroll is considering selling Aston Martin F1 Team according to rumours.
Rumour has it…
As we head to Losail International Circuit, and Verstappen looks to secure the title, everyone’s attention has turned to other news. Or should I say, rumours.
This time Lawrence Stroll is the victim of rumour, reportedly planning to sell his shares in the Aston Martin F1 Team to Saudi sovereign wealth fund. Aramco is said to be leading negotiations, with the purchase price set at $800,000,000 (eight hundred million euros) according to F1-insider.com.
The question mark hanging over Lance Stroll’s career
With Lance Stroll’s questionable performance in 2023 at his father’s team, there is certainly more than one motivation for Lawrence Stroll to sell. In the past Stroll Sr. heavily invested in F1 teams, with the hope to secure a seat for his son. But a lacklustre 2023 compared to teammate Fernando Alonso could be the last straw.
Not to mention Lance Stroll’s mother (Claire-Anne Stroll) who desperately wants her son to step away from racing amid safety concerns…

Probability behind the rumour
But how probable is this rumour?
First we have Lance Stroll’s performance issues.
Second we have Stroll’s perceived disinterest.
1997 world champion Jacques Villeneuve, neighbour to the Stroll family in Montreal said “Lawrence built his own karting track for his son, which was just a 15-minute walk from the house. Yet Lance travelled the distance by helicopter every day,”.
Whilst an anonymous insider said, “Father and son once came to our factory to look at it: I have never seen such an interested father and such a disinterested son,”. Perhaps suggesting that the passion for racing comes more from Lawrence than it does Lance…
And finally, what makes the sale even more credible is that this isn’t the first time Stroll Sr. has looked to sell. Earlier this year, Geely, a Chinese automobile manufacturer looked set to buy the Aston Martin team. But came away with a substantial stake instead.
