I wasn’t sure what to expect from Red Bull Pole Position Silverstone. I mean, I’d read the promo stuff; sweeping views, gourmet food, DJ sets. But still, it felt like it might be too good to be true. Turned out, it wasn’t. If anything, it was more than I’d imagined.

The moment you step into the space, you’re struck by the energy. It’s polished but not stiff. A kind of laid-back luxury; the kind that knows how to throw a party without losing sight of the race.
And that view? Right over the Hamilton Straight. You’re looking directly down at the start-finish line. You see the formation, the lights, and that thunderous launch off the grid. It’s right there, unfolding in front of you. It’s hard to describe really. You’re close enough to feel it in your chest. And with Sky Sports commentary playing on huge screens nearby, you’re fully in the loop wherever the action is on the circuit.
Food, Drink, and a Little Bit of James Martin
Here’s something I didn’t expect: James Martin was there. Yes, actually serving food. I had what looked like a tiny burger, but it was packed with flavour. Like a posh version of a street classic. There were other dishes too, some recognisable, some not, and honestly, I stopped asking what things were after the third bite. I just ate. Everything was good.
And the drinks? Constant. Staff were everywhere, quietly making sure glasses were never empty. You barely noticed them refilling; it just… happened.
More Than Just Racing
Red Bull Pole Position Silverstone isn’t just about Formula 1. There’s a whole world spinning around the race itself. BMX stunt riders twisting through the air on a half-pipe. Dance battles. A full-blown DJ set happening just metres away. It’s easy to get distracted — in a good way. You could wander off to test your reflexes on a simulator or try your hand at the Pit-Stop Challenge. And then suddenly, you’re sipping something cold while watching someone change an F1 tyre in record time.
At one point, I found myself in conversation with Corey Hawkins (Straight Outta Compton) and Ben Hardy (Bohemian Rhapsody & X-Men). Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso) was nearby too. It felt surreal, but also oddly casual; like everyone was just there to enjoy the day.

Up Close with F1’s Biggest Names
Early in the morning, I got to sit in on a Q&A with Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez. It didn’t feel overly corporate. Actually, it was kind of relaxed. They joked, answered honestly (or at least it seemed that way.) You forget, for a moment, that they’re under the weight of a billion-dollar team. They were just… people.
Final Thoughts? Well, Sort Of
I’m not going to pretend it’s affordable. Red Bull Pole Position Silverstone is a splurge. But if you love Formula 1, or even just the atmosphere around it, it’s hard to think of a better place to be that weekend. The view, the food, the moments you don’t quite expect — they all add up.
