RED BULL AND FIA REACHED AGREEMENT ON A PENALTY BUT ANNOUNCEMENT POSTPONED

The FIA and Red Bull have seemingly reached an agreement on a penalty in regard to their budget cap infringement, where we were expecting an announcement soon. However, following the death of Dietrich Mateschitz, the founder of Red Bull, they have understandably delayed this.

When the announcement will be is still yet to be released and the details of the penalty remain under wraps. Last year’s budget cap was set at $145 million, and the two teams who have breached the budget cap are Red Bull and Aston Martin.

The announcement which has already been delayed has caused speculation amongst fans and other teams and drivers to what penalty Red Bull will receive. The FIA stated that Aston Martins infringement was a procedural one, whereas Red Bulls breach was a ‘Minor Overspend’.

It is definitely known that Red Bull has denied this with Christian Horner, Red Bull’s Team Principle being very vocal in interviews this weekend at the United States Grand Prix. He came back at Zak Brown, CEO of McLaren after a letter he sent to the FIA about the cost cap infringements, where Horner stated he was accused of ‘Cheating’. He quickly shut down these accusations at the press conference in Austin.

Due to the passing of Dietrich Mateschitz on Saturday, the delay of the announcement will be out of respect for both the Red Bull and Mateschitz family. From everyone here at the EverythingF1 team we send our condolences at this difficult time.

It has not been reported when the announcement will happen but there has been speculation that the penalty Red Bull will receive is a 25% reduction in wind tunnel time. This could have serious effects on next season and where Red Bull will place in both the constructors and driver’s championships. However, this has not been confirmed and all we can do is wait on the announcement whenever that may be.

It seems as though Red Bull will take responsibility in this announcement as the team reportedly has agreed to accept the “Accepted Breach Agreement” set by the FIA.

Auto Motor und Sport stated “the cost cap administrators of the FIA and Red Bull have agreed on a penalty behind the scenes.

“It was supposed to be communicated in Austin during the weekend but out of respect they will now wait a few days.”
