Prema Indycar: Team announce entry numbers for next season

Prema Indycar have announced that they will be using numbers #83 and #90 in their debut NTT Indycar Series Championship campaign, beginning in 2025.

Current Team Principal of Prema, Angelo Rosin, founded the organisation in 1983 alongside Giorgio Piccolo. The number of car #83 was chosen for this tie to their heritage.

Prema decided to choose #90 to honour the year of their first Championship. In 1990, they were crowned winners of Italian Formula 3 with Roberto Colciago.

Prema has significant history throughout junior motorsports, with 14 constructors and 40 drivers championships across 18 different categories in their 41 years of racing.

On their way, they have scouted and accomodated world-renowned drivers finding their way to the top of motorsport. This includes people such as Formula One driver Charles Leclerc, World Endurance Champion Kamui Koboyashi and Former Indycar driver Ryan Briscoe.

Who will be driving for Prema Indycar?

The drivers for Prema’s debut Indycar season are yet to be announced, but there is speculation on who may take these seats in the coming months.

Formula One’s most recent driver departure Logan Sargeant is rumored to be in the running for a contract with the Indycar Team. The American driver has worked once already with Prema, taking 3rd in the 2020 Formula 3 Championship.

Callum Ilott competed in Indycar full time with Juncos Hollinger between 2021-2023, and his most recent Indycar event was the 2024 Indianapolis 500 with Arrow McLaren.

The British driver finished 4th overall with Prema in the 2017 Formula 3 European Championship, along with a 15th place at the Macau Grand Prix.

Prema’s venture into Indycar next year will be the only top-level category which they will compete in. The most recent top-flight series which the team competed in was LMP2, with their campaign concluding in 2023.
