Oscar Piastri reflects on the Miami Grand Prix, where he secured a second-place finish, shedding light on the challenges and triumphs of the race.

The 2024 Monaco Grand Prix saw a first home race win for Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, four DNFs, and a long awaited Oscar Piastri podium. Speaking post race, Piastri reflects on his 78 lap run.
“Tricky race. The pace at the beginning was incredibly slow,” Piastri remarked.
He recalled a specific moment early on in the race where he, “had one little half look before the tunnel but didn’t have a small enough car to fit into the gap!”
The narrow streets of Monaco mean that drivers often face difficulty in maintaining momentum while navigating the tight corners and barriers of the circuit.
“Thanks to the team”
With this, gratitude towards McLaren was felt throughout. “It’s been a great weekend all round. Nice to put a result on the board,” he said, acknowledging the collective effort that contributed to his long awaited podium finish.
Piastri also took a moment to reflect on his recent performances, “I’ve been strong the last few weekends but didn’t have the result to show for it. Nice to have a podium.” This has been a long time coming.

Honouring his competitor, and newfound father, he recalled, “Charles has been mega all weekend. They have been quick from the very first lap.”
Summarising his feelings, he said, “I’m happy with P2. A good result for the team. Very, very happy.”
Following teammate Lando Norris’ first Grand Prix win in Monaco, can the Australian follow suit in Canada? McLaren certainly have the car for it.
