Pedro De La Rosa, 51, lands an exciting new role with the Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One Team. De La Rosa was announced earlier today by Aston Martin to be appointed Team Ambassador.
The Spanish ex Formula One driver has an impressive motorsport resume, having participated in 107 Grand Prix’s with several teams such as Arrows, Jaguar, Sauber and HRT. The Spaniard also had his famous Test Driver roles in teams such as Ferrari and McLaren and in fact completed a staggering more than 65,000 miles as a Formula One Test Driver.
De La Rosa will undertake communications, media, PR, Marketing, Promotional, Commercial and general advisory duties for the Silverstone based team. Not only will he be there to maximise the teams off track potential but will also serve as a consultant to Aston Martins new Driver Development Programme.
Earlier this year F2 Champion, Filipe Drugovich, was the first inductee to the Driver development programme. With De La Rosa working closely with the programme we can only see great things coming from it. We can’t wait to see Drugovich learn and develop with the likes of De La Rosa joining their team.
Aston Martin announced earlier this year that Fernando Alonso will join the team after the retirement of Sebastian Vettel. Pedro de la Rosa was an ex-colleague to the 2x World Champion while he was with McLaren and Ferrari. Fans can’t wait to see what he brings to the British team.
“I am delighted to be joining Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula One⢠Team as Team Ambassador.
“I already know many faces within the team, having worked extensively with [2023 race driver] Fernando Alonso during my time at McLaren and Ferrari, and I look forward to getting to know everyone within the organisation.
“I will draw on my experience and expertise to help the team grow and further develop the momentum it has been gathering ahead of the 2023 season, with a particular eye on supporting the marketing and commercial side of the business.
“It is clear to me that the potential of AMF1 is huge, and that the appointment of a brilliant roster of new technical leaders and new corporate partners, and next year’s arrival of Fernando, further strengthen the team’s resource and resolve to succeed.
“I am looking forward to working with Fernando, my old friend and fellow countryman, as you might expect, and also Lance Stroll, a gifted racer who has won all the junior categories on his way to Formula One.
“It is the perfect time to be joining the organisation and I will be working hard to make sure that we maximise every opportunity as together we build for an exciting future.”
