Our first look at the REAL RB18

Day one of testing and Red Bull have finally revealed the real RB18.

Red Bull launched their 2022 challenger two weeks ago however the car displayed, revealed the new team livery on a show car, leaving the technical specifics of the RB18 behind closed doors.

On the first day of testing, it didn’t take long for heads to start turning. Today is the first day of testing in Barcelona which is being held behind closed doors, leading us to rely on journalists and photographers on the track for content. They haven’t disappointed.

As soon as Verstappen left the garage, the cameras were on him to get a first glance of his new car.

It’s safe to say, what turned up in the Red bull garage for testing, is worlds away from what was initially revealed.

Featuring arguably the most aggressive side pod design we’ve seen to date, Adrian Newey’s expertise is undeniable. Very different to what any of their competitors have brought to the table, including their main rivals Mercedes, it will be interesting to see how this radical design fares next to other teams.

At the car launch team principle, Christian Horner, was mindful of the variations in how teams have interpreted the regulations. He noted that:

“The big unknown is have we missed something with these regulations and has someone else stolen a march?”

All will be revealed when we head to Bahrain for the first race of the season on 20 March.
