Nyck DeVries opens up after a week off social media.

After a recent change in AlphaTauri, replacing Nyck DeVries with Red Bull reserve driver Daniel Ricciardo midway through the season, Nyck has now addressed the situation on his Instagram account, following a week of staying away from social media.

He started off his statement by saying that he had taken some time off social media and will continue to do so and went on to thank Red Bull and Scuderia AlphaTauri before expressing his disappointment from having his dream so short lived.

What went wrong?

Nyck had everyone talking last season when he stepped in for Alex Albon, who was bedridden at the time, and he also managed to bag points for the team at Monza, which brought in a lot of expectations for both the team and the viewers this season.

Although the whole situation may seem harsh, given that he is a ‘rookie’. He wasn’t posed a ‘threat’ to his teammate, and in fact he barely got to match Tsonoda’s performance. Nyck’s age and previous experience in the other series, which includes being a Formula 2 champion in 2019 and a Formula E champion in 2022, while also ‘gaining knowledge’ from being a test driver for F1 teams, was a major factor as to why he was removed with immediate effect, according to Marco. And also, after shutting down rumors from last week regarding the possibility of replacing Sergio Perez, it didn’t help that Daniel Ricciardo was performing well during the Pirelli testing sessions for Red Bull, which influenced the decision to pull the trigger.

However, after the news broke out, Nyck was seen with Toto Wolff at a cafe, which means that there could be a slight chance of seeing him at the paddock in the future, but it would be extremely unlikely to see him back with an F1 seat.

Time off

Nyck had ended his statement with a clarification that he had not spoken to the media the past week as he was sent some articles about some alleged statements, he had made during his time off, and he will continue to keep it that way while also staying away from social media.
