Haas record another season-best result of P6 at Silverstone for the British GP, thanks to Nico Hülkenberg and the upgrades to their VF-24.
The upgrades which the American team brought to Silverstone include a new floor, along with new floor edges and floor fences, updated sidepod inlets, updated engine cover, updated mirror structures, and updated rear corners.
The 36-year-old spoke very positively on Saturday about the upgrades which Haas have implemented, saying this was key to their impressive qualifying position.
“The upgrades we introduced really had an effect. I felt a gain with them straight away.”
The German driver also spoke about the upgrades after the race.
“It makes me happy and optimistic looking into the remainder of the season.
“We are definitely in the fight now for the fifth fastest team,” he added.
The sixth-place finish at the British Grand Prix means that Haas have collected a total of 20 points over the triple header of Spain, Austria and the United Kingdom, almost quadrupling their overall points tally over these rounds.
This leapfrogs them to 7th in the constructors championship with 27 points, four points behind Red Bull sister team RB.
Triple-header Progression
Austria was only the second double-points finish for Haas this season, with Hülkenberg P6 and teammate Kevin Magnussen P8. This mirrors the Kannapolis-based teams’ best weekend for the last two years. Where they also finished 6th and 8th at the 2022 Austrian Grand Prix.
Silverstone marks their sixth Q3 appearance in 2024, all of them coming from Nico Hülkenberg. The German driver has out qualified teammate Magnussen eight times this year. Only three being in favour of the Dane. This excludes Monaco where both cars were disqualified from qualifying after a technical infringement.
The next race on the calendar is the Hungarian Grand Prix. Similar to the previous three races in its high speed, high down force layout of fast corners. This may assist Haas to better their points tally further.
