Newey’s Red Bull departure
After it was reported last week via German publication Auto Motor Und Sport that Newey intends to leave Red Bull, sources suggest that the announcement could come as soon as this weekend’s Miami Grand Prix.

It is understood that Newey has formally submitted his resignation, and an official statement is expected to come before the race according to Autosport.
One of the factors in Newey’s wish to depart the team is believed to be due to a fractured relationship with team principal Christian Horner, following the latter had allegations made against him by a female employee – and the power struggle that ensued afterwards between Horner and the wider Red Bull company.
The Future
It is not known what Newey will decide to do following his exit, however he is expected to remain in his current role until his contract runs out at the beginning of 2025.
After that, it is unknown as to what he will decide to do. It’s no doubt every team on the grid would go above and beyond to acquire his services, but whether Newey would want to embark on another F1 project, or move away from the sport, is a different question entirely.
Either way it’s a fascinating development in yet another major Red Bull storyline this year.
