The second round of the FIA Formula 3 championship kicked off on Thursday in Monaco, with the only practice session of the weekend. The practice session was filled with red flags and traffic, but we all expect that from Monaco.
After the short Virtual Safety session, the Aussie James Wharton set the initial benchmark, that was quickly beaten by several drivers.
Early Red Flag
Prema’s Wharton hit the barriers at Turn 14 which caused an early red flag. Thankfully, walking away from the car, the Marshall’s were then given time to fix the barrier. This did cause the session to be extended by 15 minutes.

The session restarted with 28 minutes to go with Gerrard Xie topping the timesheets with a 1:28:109, ahead of Brad Benavides.
Throughout the session, traffic impacted a lot of drivers’ laps. However, several continued to put in fastest laps for the remaining 13 minutes.
Chequered Flag
Theophile Nael of Campos Racing topped the session with a 1:25:853, ahead of Freddie Slater and Championship leader Ugo Ugockhukwu in P3.
Bruno Del Pino slotted into fourth, with Pedro Clerot in fifth. Louis Sharp was the sixth fastest for PREMA, ahead of Ernesto Rivera, Taito Kato, Noah Stromsted and Enzo Deligny, who rounded out the top 10.
F3 Qualifying kicks off at 11:05 local time on Friday for Group A, with Group B following at 11:29.
