MICK SCHUMACHER IS OUT OF SAUDI ARABIAN GP

Following a huge crash during Q2 of qualifying, it has been confirmed that Mick Schumacher will not participate in tomorrow’s Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

After colliding with the barriers at turn 12, Schumacher and his VF-22 suffered a significant impact. The shunt necessitated the deployment of the F1 medical car and an ambulance, with the German remaining in the car for a prolonged period.

Once extracted, Schumacher was taken to the medical centre on track for an assessment. The assessment revealed no external injuries however he was then airlifted to King Fahad Armed Forces Hospital in Jeddah for further precautionary checks.

Following this, Haas F1 stated:

“In light of today’s qualifying incident, Mick Schumacher will not participate in tomorrow’s Saudi Arabian GP”

The team also confirmed that Schumacher would not be replaced, they will only be running Kevin Magnussen’s car – Magnussen qualified in P10.

When explaining how they came to make this decision, Guenther Steiner is quoted as saying:

“A very eventful day for us. The best thing is that Mick has apparently no injuries, he’s in the hospital right now and being evaluated by the doctors, so he is in good hands at the moment. There is a possibility that he’ll have to stay for observation overnight at the hospital. Based on these facts and where we are, we have decided not to field his car tomorrow.”

We wish Mick a speedy recovery and hope to see him on track when he’s ready to return.
