MERCEDES EXPECTING BETTER PERFORMANCE AT SILVERSTONE

So far this year the Mercedes team have been putting in poor performances in comparison to their previous 8 years of dominance. However they are confident in their upgrade package being brought to the next race in Silverstone.

The Mercedes duo of Lewis Hamilton and George Russell, while not setting the world alight with their performance, have been very consistent in finishing races this season and importantly scoring enough points to keep the team in contention of a decent constructors championship result.

George Russell is currently 4th in the Drivers Championship on 111 points, while Lewis Hamilton is 6th on 77 points. The team are third overall in the constructors and with how many races are left still this season; are very much within reaching distance of both the Scuderia Ferrari team and The front running Oracle Red Bull Racing team.

Each week, the team release a debrief video on their socials. In that video this week, Mike Elliot – MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Technical Director suggests that with the mixture of a track that they think will suit their car plus some changes that they will be bringing along with them; that they will perform as well as they did in Barcelona.

“We will be bringing new bits to Silverstone, we will be trying to push the car forward, trying to get some pace from the car we’ve got or from the package we’ve got as well as the new bits we are going to add to it,”

“I think at the same time though we have to be honest with ourselves and say that at the moment we are just a little bit behind those front runners in Ferrari and Red Bull.

“And in a normal race I think it is going to be tough. I think Silverstone will be a circuit that suits us a little bit better, like Barcelona did, but maybe it will be just a little bit difficult.

“Whatever happens we will push as hard as we can. Our drivers will push as hard as we can because we want to get back to winning.

“We want to win for the team, we definitely want to win and we want to win for you, the fans, so let’s see what happens.”

With George and Lewis finishing 3rd and 5th respectively on Barcelona, the British drivers may be hoping for a little bit more at home at Silverstone.

How well do you think they can perform?
