The two-time World Champion has announced he will not arrive at the track in Jeddah until Friday for the Saudi Arabian GP.

Verstappen announced through his Instagram story: “Feeling fine again, after not being fit for a few days because of a stomach bug. Therefore, I unfortunately had to postpone my flight for a day, so I won’t be on the track until Friday. See you in Jeddah!”

Consequently, this means Verstappen will miss out on the regular Thursday media duties at the Saudi Arabian GP, but will be ready on track for FP1 on Friday.

With no track time missed, it is unlikely to hinder his performance at this weekend’s Saudi Arabian GP as Verstappen fights for not only his second win of the season but his second win in a row at the Jeddah Corniche circuit.

Red Bull tweeted their well wishes to the driver and said “Max has been suffering from a stomach illness over the past few days and, with the agreement of the FIA, will not be present at the track today. Feel better Max.”

Verstappen currently sits first in the standings after taking the win in the opening race of the season, his teammate Sergio Perez is second with surprise success story Fernando Alonso in third.

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc left Bahrain with no points after a DNF due to electrical issues, he is due to take a 10-place grid penalty for the Saudi Arabian GP this weekend and will be forced to fight through the pack if he wants to return to the podium.
