Lewis Hamilton’s race suit from his debut victory at the Canadian GP in 2007 has sold for $241,300. The now seven time champion entered Formula 1 with McLaren, taking only few races before his first victory in F1, he had already created waves prior to the Canadian GP, finishing on the podium on every race prior to his maiden Victory.
He would miss out on the Drivers Championship to Kimi Raikkonen, however he would go one better in 2008 taking the WDC at the final race of the season in Brazil at the expense of Ferrari’s Filipe Massa.
Hamilton memorabilia in demand
This is not the first time that a piece of Hamilton memorabilia has demanded an extraordinary fee, his first Mercedes F1, the W04, sold for $15.1 million, the second most expensive car behind Juan Manuel Fangio’s W196R.
In recent years, Formula 1 trading cards have seen a rise in popularity, a common past time in the USA where F1 has seen an increase in popularity.
One of Lewis Hamilton trading cards sold in 2022 for $900,000.

Topps released three Formula 1 sets in 2020: Chrome, Sapphire and Dynasty. Within a year, these box prices skyrocketed, which may explain the ludicrous premium that these cards bring.
Although Lewis memorabilia is attracting top dollar, he is not the only driver that is in demand. Three time Champion, Max Verstappen’s Topps trading card (Max Verstappen 2020 Topps Chrome F1 Superfractor 1/1 Rookie Autograph PSA 9/AUTO 9) sold for $534,000, even though it’s almost half the value of Lewis Hamilton’s card it is still an extraordinary price for the trading card.
