LAS VEGAS GP IS CONFIRMED FOR 2023

Las Vegas to host F1 grands prix from 2023 and become the third annual American GP.

Formula 1 is heading to Las Vegas in November 2023 on a deal that will see America host three annual races. Vegas will become the third American venue to host F1 joining Austin, Texas and Miami – the latter of which makes its debut this coming May.

In a break with recent tradition, the Las Vegas GP will be held on a Saturday night in November. Ensuring it reaches the largest audience, the time difference means all European watchers will be watching early Sunday morning.

Nevada hosted F1 in 1981 and 1982 and they were known as the Caesars Palace Grands Prix. The races in the 80s didn’t prove too popular amongst those involved and it wasn’t retained – perhaps given it was held in the Caesars Palace hotel car park.

However this time F1 cars will race on the iconic, Las Vegas strip in the heart of the city, flying past the famous casinos and hotels. The 3.8 mile circuit is to be run over 50 laps, comprising of 14 corners, 3 straights and 2 DRS zones.

The news was announced at a live event in Las Vegas on Wednesday night attended by F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali and Liberty Media CEO Greg Maffei.

Pleased with his new signing, Stefano Domenicali says: “There is no better place for Formula 2 to race than in the global entertainment capital of the world and we cannot wait to be here next year.

F1 also released a ‘reveal’ video in which they told drivers about the new race, it’s safe to say they were all pleased and looking forward to the festivities.
