Juan Manuel Correa Stripped of P3 as Drivers are Penalised Post-F2 Spanish GP Sprint

Juan Manuel Correa has been stripped of his third place in the F2 Spanish GP Sprint race following a post-race time penalty. Correa is amongst a number of drivers who have received post-race penalties from the Stewards.

The DAMS Lucas Oil driver finished in P3 – his first podium since he was involved in the devastating crash in Spa Francorchamps in 2019. However, following the race, the Stewards found him to have breached track limits four times, earning him a five-second penalty. The penalty now drops Correa to P8 and Hitech Pulse-Eight’s Paul Aron moves to P3.

However, Correa isn’t the only driver to be penalised after the chequered flag. PREMA’s Andrea Kimi Antonelli was handed a five-second penalty for the same infringement, dropping him from P10 to P15. Van Amersfoort Racing’s Rafael Villagómez suffered the same fate going from 15th to 17th in the final classification.

To add insult to injury for Rodin Motorsport’s Zane Maloney, he was handed a five-second penalty for a sixth track limit violation. The Bajan driver had already served a ten-second penalty during the race for his fourth and fifth violations. He now sits 20th in the classification.

Trident’s Roman Stanek is the last driver to be handed a five-second penalty post-race for his fifth track limits violation. He served a five-second penalty during the race, and he stays in P22 following the second penalty.

MP were dealt a double blow following the F2 Spanish GP Sprint as both Denis Hauger Franco Colapinto earned a ten-second penalty each post-race. Hauger drops from P9 to P12 after leaving the track five times, and Colapinto goes from 11th to 18th.
