Jack Doohan has been announced as the driver to partner Pierre Gasly at Alpine next season.
In a statement released today, Jack expressed his excitement to be in the second Alpine seat;
“I am so happy to secure promotion into a full-time race seat in 2025 with BWT Alpine F1 Team. I am very grateful for the trust and belief by the team’s senior management. There is so much work ahead to be prepared and ready and I will give my best in the meantime to absorb as much information and knowledge to be ready for the step up.“
The 21-year-old joined the Alpine academy in 2022, at the beginning of his first full season in Formula 2 where he finished 6th.
In 2023 Doohan came 3rd overall in his second F2 campaign, and since then he has been focusing on his role as Alpine’s reserve driver. He is the first driver to graduate from the Alpine junior team to a seat in the senior organisation.
The Australian driver has driven in tests for the Enstone based Alpine team, along with partaking in practice sessions during the season. His two most recent outings were at the 2024 Canadian and British Grands Prix.
The announcement of a new team principal within Oliver Oakes, along with the conformation of the 2025 driver lineup means that the team are now able to focus on other important components of the organisation.
Speaking today, Oakes spoke of his excitement working with Doohan again, after having worked with the Aussie back in 2019;
“We are very excited to promote Jack into the race seat from next season and, in doing so, giving him the opportunity to showcase his skill and talent in Formula 1. Jack will become the first driver to graduate from the Alpine Academy into a race driver position with the team, so that is exceptionally pleasing for the team and its young driver pathway.“
It has recently been announced that Alpine are potentially closing in on a technical partnership with constructors Mercedes-Benz, who will supply power units, suspension components and gearboxes to the French outfit. The deal could begin as early as 2025.
Alpine sit eighth in the constructors championship on 11 points, with current drivers Pierre Gasly on six points, and Esteban Ocon on five respectively.
