Formula E FP3 | 2024 Portland E-Prix | Evans leads as Jaguar shine

Admin Avatar

It was a solid start to Sunday for the Jaguar TCS Racing pair in Portland as they took 1st and 2nd in the final practice session of the weekend.

Mitch Evans nicked the top spot from teammate, Nick Cassidy who missed out on victory in yesterday’s race.

The New Zealander spun on the last lap but will be hoping to make amends in race 2 in Portland later today.

Following the Jaguar drivers, Brit Jake Hughes showed good speed in the McLaren car to take third.

Race 1 winner, António Félix da Costa took fourth place and will be aiming to make it a clean sweep around the American track.

It would be the Portuguese drivers their consecutive win if he manages to do so.

The top 10 were separated by less than half a second which means getting a clean lap in qualifying is going to be crucial.

The final corner has proved difficult for the drivers so far this weekend with a few trips onto the grass.

Mitch Evans had his own off in FP3 despite topping the timing sheets.

Championship leader, Cassidy will want to score points in today’s race after his disappointment on Saturday.

He leads Wehrlein by 24 points going into Round 14 of the Formula E Championship.

Mitch Evans sits a further three points behind the German in what has been an impressive season for Jaguar TCS Racing.

Evans was the only one of the top three in the championship to make the duels yesterday. It was an error-strewn qualifying session for both Wehrlein and Cassidy.

Jaguar have established themselves as the front runner and look likely to take the Manufacturers Championship this season.

There is one more stop to go on the 2024 calendar with the London E-Prix up next in July.
