Victor Martins topped the F2 Practice session at the 2025 Saudi Arabian GP with a 1:45.671 for ART Grand Prix.
Formula 2 faces one of its toughest challenges as this 45-minute practice session marked the only time many drivers had to learn these 27 corners.
Turn 16 and 22 in particularly pose as a challenge this weekend, with these high-speed corners being the reason for many incidents over the years.
Leonardo Fornaroli currently leads the Championship by one point, ahead of Alexander Dunne and Luke Browning.
The session started with a Virtual Safety Car test, which was then lifted.
Early Laps
Melbourne Sprint Race winner Joshua Durksen and Browning were eager to complete some early laps.
They were followed by Bahrain Feature Race winner Dunne who will be hoping to replicate last weekend’s success.
On The Board
With the drivers starting to set their timed laps, Roman Stanek went to the top with a 1:47.689 for Invicta Racing. He was ahead of Kush Maini and Victor Martins.
John Bennett went wide over the apex at Turn 22.
Victor Martins quickly bettered with a 1:47.000, with Gabriele Mini and Pepe Marti behind.
30 Minutes Remaining
Despite bouncing at the exit of Turn 22, Dunne managed to go P3 just +0.5s behind the leader.
Maini improved to the top of the timing board with a 1:46.437 for DAMS Lucas Oil.
Martins was also able to improve for ART Grand Prix, +0.100s behind Maini.
There were a few lockups and spins out on track for drivers including Dunne, Maini and Sebastian Montoya, yet no collisions with the barrier.
Jak Crawford made it a 1-2 for DAMS Lucas Oil, slotting in +0.013s behind his teammate.
However, Martins quickly changed this outcome, going to the top with a 1:46.432.
20 Minutes Remaining
The top five were separated by less than a tenth of a second.
A black and white flag was waved for Sami Meguetounif for track limits.
With many drivers in the pit lane, Durksen topped the timings with a 1:46.387 for AIX Racing, ahead of Martins and Maini.
With just less than 10 minutes remaining, Stanek went quickest once again with a 1:46.217 ahead of Crawford and Martins.
10 Minutes Remaining
Improving in the first sector, Mini went to the top with a 1:46.193 for PREMA.
However, setting two purple sectors, Stanek comfortably bettered this time with a 1:45.820.
Fornaroli went third, +0.4s behind the leader, replacing Crawford who was knocked down to fourth.
Despite falling victim to Turn 22, Dunne went into third with a 1:46.190 for Rodin Motorsport.
The PREMA drivers of Mini and Montoya quickly knocked the Irish driver from this position, going into third and fourth respectively.
Using his experience in the series to his advantage, Martins topped the timings once again with a 1:45.671.
Despite setting a second purple sector, Crawford was unable to challenge the leader, going third with a 1:45.892. This was later deleted due to track limits, dropping the American into 11th position.
The best of the rookies in this session, Dino Beganovic went third with a 1:45.990 for Hitech.
