The F2 Feature Race at the 2025 Australian GP was cancelled after multiple attempts to get racing in the rain. There were no official results and no points awarded.

A Delayed Start & Rainy Red Flag

The formation lap was delayed ten minutes after the MP team personnel stayed near the car of Richard Verschoor longer than the rules allowed. As a result, Verschoor faced a drive-through penalty before the lights went out.

The rain picked up during the delay, but the formation lap still took place behind the safety car. The conditions quickly worsened, causing race control to bring out the red flag. All cars returned to the pits as the rain continued to fall.

Alex Dunne stopped partway through the entrance to the pitlane. To clear the path for the cars stuck behind him, Dunne got out of the car and started pushing it down the pitlane. Because the cars behind him had to shut their engines off, the marshalls pushed multiple other cars down pitlane.

Race control delayed the formation lap further as a result of the rain and low visibility.

Formation Lap: Take Two

After lengthy delays, the formation lap began again behind the safety car. There were several laps behind the safety car.

The Red Bull Junior Oliver Goethe spun behind the safety car as other drivers were reporting more rain falling.

Race Cancelled

The red flag was once again out for the wet conditions. After the lengthy delays, the F2 race ran out of time to take place before the F1 race. Race control announced the cancellation directly after the red flag.

The F2 Feature Race at the 2025 Australian GP was cancelled after multiple attempts to get racing, leaving AIX Racing’s Joshua Düerksen as the weekend’s only victor due to his win in the Sprint Race.
