Lando Norris Takes Chaos in His Stride to Win F1 Sprint at the Miami GP
The F1 Sprint at the Miami GP gave us everything – rain, crashes, penalties, pit-lane drama, and a surprise winner. And it was Lando Norris who came out on top in the chaos, bagging his first ever Sprint win. The McLaren driver kept his cool while others slipped, spun or smashed into each other. What a race!
After starting behind team-mate Oscar Piastri, Norris timed his switch to slick tyres perfectly and stormed past to lead. Once the carnage really kicked off, he managed to hold firm at the front despite the safety car interruption – This was Norris at his very best.
Verstappen’s Nightmare Sprint
And then there’s Max Verstappen. It couldn’t have gone much worse for the reigning World Champion. He ended up P17 – dead last – after a miserable run that included a 10-second time penalty, a broken front wing, and zero points. It’s the first time he’s finished outside the points since 2016. Let that sink in.
To be fair, the penalty wasn’t really his fault. Red Bull released him unsafely into Kimi Antonelli, causing contact in the pit lane. The stewards handed Max the penalty, dropping him from fourth on the road all the way out of the points.

How It All Unfolded
Let’s rewind a bit – because the Sprint was carnage from the start.
Wet Weather Drama
Rain hit Miami just before the start, leading to delays, safety car laps and eventually a standing start on Lap 3. Drivers were skating all over the place on intermediates, and visibility was near zero early on.
Leclerc Out Before It Even Began
Charles Leclerc didn’t even make it to the grid. He crashed on his reconnaissance lap in the rain and was ruled out before the lights went out.
Alonso Crashes, Lawson Blamed
Fernando Alonso was shoved into the wall by Liam Lawson, causing a big crash on Lap 15 and triggering the safety car. The stewards confirmed Alonso was blameless, and Lawson is expected to get a penalty.
Pit Lane Mayhem
With the track drying, teams gambled on slicks. Norris stayed out longer than most, then pitted at the perfect time – while others like Piastri came in earlier and lost out due to the late safety car. Verstappen’s contact in the pits only added to the madness.
