Following an impressive win in the F1 Academy Saudi Arabia 2024 Race Two to make a perfect weekend for the Mercedes junior, Doriane Pin has been demoted from the top spot following a 20-second penalty added to her elapsed race time. Alpine’s Abbi Pulling is now the winner with Ferrari’s Maya Weug in second and the Tommy Hilfiger backed Nerea Martí in third.
Speaking at the Winners Conference, Pin said;
“I had a little bit of an issue with the radio. I couldn’t hear anything by the engineers so I didn’t know if it was the last lap or not. I kept pushing in case it was.”
She is not the only driver facing penalties in the F1 Academy Saudi Arabia 2024 Race Two, however.
Amna Al Qubaisi has been issued a five-second time penalty for leaving the track and gaining a lasting advantage. The stewards discovered after the race that the Visa Cash App RB driver exceeded track limits at Turn 22 when attempting to overtake PUMA’s Aurelia Nobels. This led to her cutting the inside of Turn 23 to complete the move.
A reminder from the race: Charlotte Tilbury’s Lola Lovinfosse was handed a five-place grid penalty for the next race she participates in after she caused a collision with Lia Block.
