Maya Weug took home the F1 Academy Race 2 win at the 2025 Saudi Arabian GP for MP Motorsport, supported by Scuderia Ferrari.
Chloe Chambers lined up in her maiden pole position for Campos Racing, supported by Red Bull Ford. She was ahead of Doriane Pin and Maya Weug.
Ella Lloyd secured her first F1 Academy race win in Saturday’s Race 1, defending the position in a drag race to the line.
Lights Out
Chambers had a good start, successfully defending first position.
Weug overtook Pin at Turn 1, taking second position from the Mercedes supported driver.
A couple of the drivers were slow off the line, including Lloyd who stalled, but managed to get away.
Yellow Flag
Emma Felbermayr was spun on Lap Two, Turn 2, after contact with Rafaela Ferreira.
This resulted in a ten-second penalty for Ferreira.
Lloyd took advantage of this, already up to tenth position after her difficult start.
A Change Of Lead
Weug was quickly pressuring Chambers for first position.
The lead was inherited on Lap 3 but was immediately lost again as Chambers and Weug left the track at Turn 22.
Pin capitalised, overtaking Weug for second as Chambers managed to maintain the lead.
Once again, Weug overtook Pin for second on Lap Four.
Ten Laps To Go
Chambers was now +1.3s ahead of Weug in second, three tenths faster than both of the drivers ahead of her.
Alisha Palmowski sat comfortably in fourth position, closing the gap to Pin ahead of her for the final podium position.
Disaster For Chambers
Race leader Chambers received a five-penalty after forcing Weug off track after their third lap battle.
Crucially, the pressure was now building as her main aim was to open the gap.
Five Laps To Go
Alba Larsen was battling Palmowski for fourth position, with just +0.5s between them on Lap Nine.
Pin was told to “push, push” over the radio as Chambers was also significantly pushing out in front.
The American driver was continually setting fastest sectors, determined to still stand on the podium after her five-second penalty.
With one lap to go, Chambers had extended a +1.5s lead out front, +4.5s ahead of Pin in third.
During the final sector of the last lap, Chambers extended the lead to over five seconds to Pin in third, meaning that her five-second penalty would only drop her to second.
Maya Weug took home the F1 Academy Race 2 win at the 2025 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix for MP Motorsport, supported by Scuderia Ferrari. Despite finishing first on track, Chloe Chambers was demoted to second after her five-second penalty for Campos Racing supported by Red Bull Ford.
