F1 Academy Qualifying | 2025 Singapore GP | Weug Takes Pole

The penultimate F1 Academy Qualifying saw Maya Weug take Pole with a 2:03.453 at the 2025 Singapore GP. Doriane Pin joins her on the front row with a 1:03.495, whilst Chloe Chambers went third fastest with a 2:03.642.

Green Light

As the city lights shone over the Marina Bay Street Circuit, the F1 Academy drivers began their installation laps for their penultimate Qualifying session of the season.

Lisa Billard is this weekend’s Wild Card Entry for Hitech TGR supported by Gatorade.

Furthermore, Megan Bruce is standing in for Aiva Anagnostiadias who sustained a fracture to her left foot.

Red Flag

It was disaster for Alisha Palmowski who had reported she had “hit the wall” coming out of Turn 5.

Consequently, the yellow flag was waved in Sectors 1 and 2, before the red flag was shown.

At this stage, Ella Lloyd topped the timings with a 2:04.958 for Rodin Motorsport supported by McLaren. She was followed by Billard with a 2:05.906 and Nicole Havarda with a 2:06.166 for Hitech TGR supported by American Express.

Session Resumed

With 22 minutes remaining, the session was resumed.

Current Championship leader Doriane Pin topped the timings with a 2:03.885 for PREMA Racing supported by Mercedes. 

Chloe Chambers slotted in behind her with a 2:04.436 as they continue their fight for the title. With 16 minutes remaining, the American driver was able to steal the top-spot, bettering her time with a 2:03.761.

Notably, Billard sat in third with a 2:04.353, having only ever driven F1 ACADEMY machinery in the rookie test.

Ten Minutes Remaining

Ten minutes remained as the drivers began the preparation for their final push-laps.

With lap-time to find, Maya Weug secured second with a 2:03.775 for MP Motorsport supported by Scuderia Ferrari. On her second run, she was able to take provisional pole, improving with a 2:03.453.

Furthermore, Chambers also bettered her time but remained in second with a 2:03.642.

With 12 seconds remaining, Pin raced to the line after traffic disrupted her final push-lap.

Setting a personal best second sector, the French driver improved to the front-row where she will line-up alongside Weug in Pole.

Finishing in fifth, Billard becomes the first Wild Card Entry to qualify in the top eight.
