F1 Academy FP1 | 2025 Canadian GP | Palmowski Sets The Pace

Alisha Palmowski set the pace with a 1:38.898 for Campos Racing supported by Red Bull Racing during F1 Academy FP1 at the 2025 Canadian GP.

The F1 Academy drivers headed to Canada for the first time, making their debut at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal.

Furthermore, the series will hold three races over the weekend after challenging weather conditions at the 2025 Miami GP saw Race 2 postponed.

Mathilda Paatz is this weekend’s wildcard, making her debut with Hitech whilst sporting Gatorade colours. The drinks brand also announced a multi-year partnership with the series this week.

Green Light

With this circuit being a new challenge for the grid, all the drivers were eager to begin their first laps.

Nicole Havrda set the pace with a 1:48.528, with the Canadian aiming for her first points in the series at her home race.

Alba Larsen slotted in behind her with a 1:49.596 for MP Motorsport, supported by Tommy Hilfiger.

Ella Lloyd completed the top three. The British driver set a time of 1:50.256 for Rodin Motorsport, supported by McLaren.

Tumbling Times

The times began to tumble as the drivers’ confidence was increasing.

Larsen was able to improve to the top of the timings with a 1:42.697 whilst Lloyd also improved to a 1:43.007.

Chloe Chambers slotted into third with a 1:43.640 for Campos Racing, supported by Red Bull Ford.

Teammate Alisha Palmowski went into fourth with a 1:44.785 for Campos Racing supported by Red Bull Racing.

Despite cutting the corner at Turn 13, Lloyd then went quickest with a 1:42.277.

However, Chambers swiftly replaced her at the top with a 1:41.701, with Palmowski slotting in just +0.1s behind her.

25 Minutes Remaining

With 25 minutes remaining, Palmowski topped the field with a 1:40.002, although Chambers was able to steal the top spot with a 1:39.870 as she continued to set personal best sectors.

Lloyd sat in third with a 1:40.402.

Woes For Weug

With 20 minutes remaining, Maya Weug was forced to come back into the pits after her first out-lap, having not set a timed lap.

With several technical personnel surrounding her car, this was not the start to the weekend that the current Championship leader was hoping for.

20 Minutes Remaining

Palmowski topped the timings with a 1:39.315, with Chambers challenging her once again with a 1:39.297.

Doriane Pin was the next driver to cut the corner at Turn 13 after locking her rear wheels.

Although Weug made her way out of pit lane, she filed back in once again having still not set a timed lap.

Yellow Flag – and then a Red Flag!

Despite going third fastest with a 1:39.856, Larsen spun.

With Larsen managing to continue, the green flag was waved; but not for long!

Disaster for Doriane Pin as she left pit lane with a fan tethered to the side of her car, which then fell off at the exit of Turn 4.

This therefore caused the red flag to be waved as the marshals removed the debris from the circuit.

Green Flag

The green flag was waved with seven minutes remaining.

Chambers and Palmowski were still setting the pace, with Championship leader Weug still at the bottom with no time set.

Finding purple sectors, Chambers was continually improving on her lead, setting a 1:38.972.

Stealing that purple first sector, Lloyd improved to fifth with a 1:39.596, with Chloe Chong just +0.6s ahead of her in fourth.

As the chequered flag was waved, Palmowski topped the timings for the final time with a 1:38.898 during F1 Academy FP1 at the 2025 Canadian GP.
