EX F1 DRIVER MARCUS ERICSSON WINS INDY 500.

Marcus Ericsson has won an eventful Indy 500 ahead of Mclaren’s Pato O’Ward.

The Swedish driver drove an exceptional race, withholding pressure from the McLaren of Pato O’Ward after a late red flag bunched up the field .

The race started with Alex Palou out in front swapping the lead with Scott Dixon. A badly timed yellow, just as Palou was about to enter the pits caused the front runner to drop down the order.

The race was peppered with yellow flags including both Callum Ilott and Romain Grosjean, however none were as important as Jimmy Johnson’s with six laps to go, this prompted a quick decision from race control (take note FIA) to red flag the race, allowing the race to continue under green.

With only four to go Pato O’Ward and Marcus Ericsson went toe to toe for 3 laps, Ericsson withstood the pressure to take the chequered flag in Indy …
