The ERT team found themselves frustrated with the results from the Monaco E-Prix. Both Dan Ticktum and Sérgio Sette Câmara struggled to find the pace from the start of the weekend.
Câmara faced a front power-train issue in FP1 and rear driveshaft failure in FP2, which hampered his performance in the practice session. Unable to complete any competitive laps.
Although, he recovered well, being only a tenth away from getting into the duels stage of qualifying. Lining up 11th for the race.
Dan Ticktum faced the opposite problem. He had an impressive practice session, finishing sixth in the final free practice session.
However, in qualifying, a mistake at the end of Ticktum’s lap cost him severely. He lined up 20th for the E-Prix.
The ERT team was hopeful for the race, with more pace behind them. Câmara made early progress up to eighth place, with points well within reach.
Disaster struck for Câmara on lap four when heading into the hairpin he came together with Sébastien Buemi. With a punctured tyre, Câmara was forced to have an early pit stop. The rest of the race was about damage limitation, finishing 18th.
Ticktum managed to avoid trouble. Staying out of the way when Edoardo Mortara crashed at the Swimming Pool. This enabled the British driver to begin making up places, ending the race 13th.
Despite Ticktum’s recovery drive from 20th to 13th, ERT left Monaco with no points. The team remains ninth in the Constructors.
The ERT team principal, Russell O’Hagan, shared their frustrations. “We collectively didn’t deliver against our potential the way you need to in a championship this competitive.”
“We have some work to do to come back stronger.”
Sergio Sette Câmara expressed disappointment over his weekend in Monaco. “There were many issues with the car in practice.” Summarising, “It wasn’t a very positive weekend for me.”
Ticktum described his race as “pretty good” despite his mistake in qualifying, which cost him a competitive starting position.
ERT’s focus now lies on the Berlin E-Prix double header that takes place in two weeks. Berlin will see the F1 academy inaugural champion, Marta García, take part in the Berlin Rookie Test.
