As reported by BBC, the Chinese Grand Prix is set to be cancelled due to the country’s covid restrictions.
Formula 1 are set to cancel the 2023 running of the Chinese Grand Prix due to Covid restrictions.
Formula 1 has not been to China since 2019 and was set to return in 2023, however with the country following a zero-Covid policy it is felt that Formula 1 will be unable to hold the event.
Part of the issue is that the country is unwilling to give isolation excemptions to staff that suffered a COVID infection. Currently if someone has contracted COVID in China, they are required to spend 5 days at an isolation center and then 3 days at home.
Although the race has not officially been cancelled, it is considered inevitable.
