Group A
The first qualifying session kicked off with Group A, seeing the likes of Pascal Wehrlein, who placed third in the second free practice session go out with the first group.
Joel Eriksson led the first qualifying laps, in preparation for the flying laps.
Jaguar’s Mitch Evans was in sixth and three-tenths off of Wehrlein, who found himself in P10. There was still room to improve.
With a little over 6 minutes to go, both Mahindra drivers top the sheets Mortara with 1:02:887s and Jordan King with 1:02.970. An impressive feat for the reserve driver. Maserati’s Daruvala is in third.
Wehrlein improved his time and went fastest, with Da Costa following suit, gaining spots in the Duels.
Mortara held his own, keeping second and King in the top four.
As the session for group A came to a close, Evans crossed the line in fifth, missing out on the Duels.
Vergne and Daruvala battled it out for third, with Daruvala winning and knocking Da Costa out of the top four.
Unfortunately, Daruvala will have to serve a 20-place grid penalty after the installation of a new gearbox.
Current champion Jake Dennis was not having a good qualifying session and finished in P11.
Group B
The second group saw Di Grassi, Cassidy, Günther and Barnard start in the top four.
The drivers seemed to have troubles with T15, with Günther touching the wall on the exit out of the final corner.

A heated battle plays out towards the end of the session with ABT Cupra’s Lucas di Grassi taking the top spot with a time of 1:02.615s.
Günther takes second and Stoffel Vandoorne third.
Andretti’s Nick Cassidy and Normal Nato miss out on the duels.
Quarter Finals
The Duels kick off with Jean-Eric Vergne and Wehrlein battling it out, Vergne ultimately outpacing him. Mortara makes no mistakes and moves on to the semi-finals.
Vandoorne aimed for pole, setting the fastest time, taking Günther out.
Di Grassi looked promising but the lap went to Sette Câmara, as he went quicker in the middle sector.
Semi-Finals
Just thousandths separated Vergne and Mortara. Mortara kept it clean, beating Vergne.
With impressive speed, Sette Câmara took his place for the final.
Pole
Mortara and Vandoorne take the track and battle it out for pole position.
For the first time this season, Eduardo Mortara takes pole position and Mahindra’s first points.
Everyone liked that, @edomortara! 🙌
