Mick Schumacher to Reserve for McLaren as well as Mercedes

Mercedes reserve driver Mick Schumacher will also be available to stand in at McLaren the British team has announced

The German, who has found himself without a full time race seat for 2023 was signed by Mercedes as a reserve driver after two difficult years at Haas who signed Nico Hulkenburg to partner Kevin Magnussen in his place.

He has now also been made available to reserve at McLaren, should Lando Norris or Oscar Piastri not be able to race.

The other McLaren reserve driver, Alex Palou, could also fill in if his IndyCar schedule does not interfere.

It’s not the first time a Schumacher will be affiliated with the Woking team, his uncle Ralph tested for the team in 1996, before he got his drive with Jordan in 1997.

The 23 year old will also get to work with team principal Andreas Stella, who was his fathers performance engineer at Ferrari.
